Fabulous Places to Visit When Come to Tana Toraja

Known as a place that is round like the moon, Tana Toraja has many fabulous places that are carefully protected beyond the magnificent mountains and rugged granite cliffs.

Tana Toraja, the land that is known for its spectacular nature and culture. Tana Toraja offers many wonderful places to visit because of its beautiful nature and culture. Among of them are:

Ne' Gandeng Museum

Standing in the middle of the rice field with an amazing view, Ne' Gandeng Museum is located in the Palangi Village. The name of this museum is taken from the name of one of the most meritorious figures in Toraja. Ne' Gandeng Museum was built to honor the services of Ne' Gandeng, who has helped to prosper the village. There are many Toraja traditional houses, called Rumah Tongkonan, neatly lined up in this museum. Besides there are many Tongkonan Houses, there are also Menhir Stones, Ne' Gandeng Statue, buffalo statue, etc. Not only function as a tourist destination, Ne' Gandeng Museum also functions as a place to hold Rambu Solo', a very famous funeral ceremony in Toraja.

Kete' Kesu'

Kete' Kesu' is a traditional village that holds the history of Tana Toraja. This traditional village is located in Sanggalangi sub-district, North Toraja. Kete' Kesu' is known for an ancient tomb that is located behind the village. This is a traditional tomb of Toraja people where the dead body is placed in a chest that is hanging over a cliff. One chest will be used for generations because it is very expensive. Not only traditional tombs, there are also modern tombs in the form of houses with statues and photos of family members that are buried inside the house. There are many souvenir sellers along the way to the tomb.

Buntu Burake

Buntu Burake is located in Buntu Burake Village, Makale Sub-district. It is a hill where at the top of the hill there is a Jesus Christ Statue. Built above the height of 40 meters, this Buntu Burake Jesus Christ Statue is called the tallest in the world, beating the Jesus Christ statue at Brazil. This magnificent statue of Jesus Christ can be seen from afar. Because it is located in an altitude, the wonderful natural scenery can be seen clearly.
