Traces of Historical Heritage
The Modul Nusantara Kebhinekaan series come back again and continued the journey to another historical heritage site in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
"Jangan sekali-kali meninggalkan sejarah," Ir. Soekarno, Indonesia's first president, once said in his speech during Indonesian Independence commemoration day on August 17th 1966.
According to the quote above, the exchange students continued their Modul Nusantara activity to the next destination. In the second week of September, in this Kebhinekaan series, they visited several places which associated with Indonesian history. They and the lecture visited three historical places in total. This visitation was held in just one day.
Makam Raja-Raja Tallo
The first destination of historical tracing journey landed in Makam Raja-Raja Tallo which is located in Sultan Abdullah Street No. 3, Kecamatan Tallo, Makassar, South Sulawesi. This place is a tomb area of Tallo's kings from the 17th to 19th century. The shape of the building in these ancient tombs resembles the shape of a temple. There are ornaments, such as plants, leaf tendrils, and Arabic calligraphy art in these ancient tombs buildings.

Fort Rotterdam
Not only known as the historical building, Fort Rotterdam or commonly called Benteng Ujung Pandang also known as the iconic landmark of Makassar City. This fort has silently witnessed many episodes of Makassar's history. Fort Rotterdam became the center of the Dutch Colonial government in Eastern Indonesia at that time. Benteng Ujung Pandang was first built in 1545 in the era of 10th King of Gowa, Karaeng Tunipalangga Ulaweng on the western coast of Makassar. At first, this fort took the shape of a typical square Portuguese architecture. But after the Dutch attack, Governor General Speelman re-built the fort and added Dutch style architecture into it. The name of the fort was also taken from Speelman's hometown, Rotterdam.

Prince Diponegoro Tomb
There is a story behind the existence of Prince Diponegoro Tomb in Makassar. Why did Prince Diponegoro get to Makassar is because the Dutch government successfully caught him and then exiled him in Fort Rotterdam until he was dead. Prince Diponegoro Tomb is located in Java Village Complex, Wajo, Makassar. He was buried next to his wife, RA Ratu Ratna Ningsih. In the Prince Diponegoro Tomb complex, there are 25 medium size tombs and 39 small tombs. They are the tombs of his 6 children, his 30 grandchild, 19 great-grandchild, and 9 of his followers.
